While China is famous for its high-speed rail network, few people know about the slow social welfare train that has served rural Sichuan, China, since 1970. With fares starting from just 2 RMB (around $0.30 USD), this unique train provides an essential lifeline for farmers, students and families living in remote mountain villages.

Join me as I travel aboard one of China's most unique trains, meeting local villagers, farmers and even a man travelling with his goat. This is a side of rural China and Chinese railways that is rarely seen outside the country.
