In this episode of Civilization 16, we explore the political chaos following Julius Caesar's assassination in 44 BCE. Caesar's will stuns Rome: he bequeaths wealth to every citizen and names young Octavian as his heir. Mark Antony uses the public reading of the will to turn the people against the conspirators, forcing Brutus and Cassius to flee. Octavian begins his rise to power, setting the stage for the fall of the Republic and the birth of the Roman Empire.
