Saxophonist and composer Ben Wendel presents BaRcoDe, a bold new electro-acoustic project for saxophone, vibraphone and percussion. Recorded at The Bunker Studio in Brooklyn following a series of residencies at The Jazz Gallery, the album brings together four of the most forward-thinking mallet players working today - Joel Ross, Simon Moullier, Patricia Brennan and Juan Diego Villalobos.
BaRcoDe moves between modern jazz composition, chamber-like writing and electronic sound design, with acoustic instruments extended through processing, looping and spatial production. The result is music that feels physical, detailed and architectural - built from rhythm, tone and interaction rather than traditional song form.
