Abstract: Axions are hypothetical particles proposed to resolve the strong CP problem in quantum chromodynamics and are considered strong candidates for dark matter. This presentation introduces their theoretical origin through the Peccei-Quinn mechanism, their key properties, and their cosmological role. We highlight axion production in the early universe and their potential as cold dark matter. Current and future experimental efforts, such as ADMX and CAST, are also discussed. This talk provides a concise overview of axions, linking theory to ongoing searches and their significance in addressing fundamental physics challenges.
