John Thackara is a sustainable design thinker and writer, and visiting professor at College of Design and Innovation, Tongji University.
The idea of "designing for life" sounds meaningful - but what do those words mean in practice? Just as important: what jobs are available in that space?
Having traveled the world looking for social, ecological and economic projects, John Thackara has discovered real-world jobs that are emerging now. His talk will range from food and water systems, and building re-use, to high-end agritourism, next-generation hospitality, and the use of AI in social infrastructures for sharing. "We all want to move beyond talk" says Thackara. "The time has come to do meaningful jobs that enbale us all to develop personally, too".
